I’m not really sure what sparked off my interest in a Gothic theme but I have always liked the style and ethos. Perhaps it was a Facebook influence as I have seen quite a few gothy scenes on there recently. Anyway I have already gained some gothic style images in the past but never as a project, with Artemis coming up I decided to convert my dining room into a rough studio. Gotta say I briefed Artemis on the project and she excelled on the theme and really went all out on the costume and imagery, completely flawless as usual. Her presence on the image is a mere fraction of her presence in real life, she really was incredible at this style.
On a technical side these images were a different editing approach from a standard shoot, usually I can pick out an image from a theme, figure out a workflow for that theme and edit multiple images, then do the same on the next theme or shoot. However this shoot was different, there was no workflow and every image was edited as a single work of art, as such each edit took about 3 to 4 hours to do. Many times the edits were abandoned and restarted until something fitted, some needed a fantasy look and others needed a more realistic feel, each image was different. It was fun and really difficult to get what I was after….there are still lots more images to do but they will have to wait until I have more time.

The Darkness of your blighted soul will scream forever in the empty void and the hunger of the blood will never be sated….let the lust for the living be damned for the beat of a wanton heart, drink deeply from the well of the lost and unclaimed love, for the well is never dry!
